It is tempting to simply add 20 and 36 together and then take the cube root of the sum. However, that will give you the wrong answer. Instead, you have to first take the cube root of each number and then add them together, like this:

∛36 ≈ 3.3019
2.7144 + 3.3019 = 6.0163
∛20 + ∛36 ≈ 6.0163
